For the last of my graduate instalments, a CSM designer who’s
beautifully crafted and considered pieces have shades of Solange Azagury-
Partridge in their kinetic and hidden stone details, but resolutely show off a graphic
style of her own.
Katie Jamieson’s pieces feature stone set components nestled
inside smooth sided, architectural shells, which ‘pop’ out with the wearer’s
movement.
I love that Jamieson’s website describes both the tactility and
sounds of the pieces – describing the “satisfying tinkle and click as if some
secret is hidden within them”. I’ve mentioned before how important the physical
experience of wearing jewellery is – playing with chains, twisting tactile rings
around the finger, clinking stacks of bangles – an aspect of enjoying jewellery
which Jamieson has considered and captured perfectly in her designs.
